How long does it take?

We process applications as soon as we receive them. Processing times depend on the national police database. Track your application status anytime through your portal. Other types of checks (international, education verification, etc.) have different timelines.

What happens after I submit?

We process your application and send results to the organisation that requested the check. You'll receive an email confirmation when we've received your application, and another when it's been completed.

Will I see the results?

That depends on the organisation's policy. Some share results with applicants, others don't. Ask the organisation that requested the check.

Can I check the status of my application?

Email us at support@employmentscreeninggroup.com with your name and the organisation that requested the check. We'll let you know where it's at.

What ID do you accept?

For most checks, we accept:

  • Australian driver licence (current, not expired)
  • Australian passport (current or expired within last 2 years)
  • Foreign passport with Australian visa

If you don't have these, contact us. We can work with alternative ID in some cases.

Does my ID need to be current?

Driver licences must be current (not expired). Passports can be expired if within the last 2 years.

What if my ID is damaged or hard to read?

Take the clearest photo you can. If we can't read critical details, we'll contact you.

Can I use a birth certificate?

Not on its own. Birth certificates can be used as secondary ID in combination with other documents. Contact us if you're unsure what you have.

Why do you need a selfie?

To verify you're the person in the ID documents. It's a security requirement.

What makes a good selfie?

  • Hold your ID next to your face
  • Both your face and the ID should be clearly visible
  • Good lighting, in focus, no glare
  • Don't wear sunglasses or hats

Can someone else take the photo?

Yes, as long as it shows you holding your ID next to your face.

What if my photo keeps getting rejected?

Check our photo guide for common issues. If you're still having trouble, email us the photo and we'll tell you what needs fixing.

The link isn't working

Links expire after a set time for security. Contact the organisation that requested the check and ask them to resend a fresh link.

The form won't submit

Check you've filled in all required fields (they're usually marked with an asterisk *). If it's still not working, try a different browser or device.

What browser should I use?

Chrome or Safari work best. Avoid Internet Explorer (it's outdated and causes issues).

Can I do this on my phone?

Yes. Most people complete their checks on mobile devices.

What if I make a mistake?

Contact us as soon as possible. We can correct minor errors. Major errors might require resubmitting.

Is my information secure?

Yes. We use secure, encrypted connections and store your data in compliance with Australian privacy laws.

Who sees my information?

Only us and the organisation that requested the check. We don't share your information with anyone else.

How long do you keep my information?

We retain your data for 12 months and then delete it. However, you will only be able to access your police check on our system for 3 months from the date it was completed. You can request access to or deletion of your information subject to legal requirements.

What if I have a criminal record?

The check will show any disclosable offences. Whether that affects your employment is up to the organisation that requested the check. We just provide the information.
